Legal Question in Family Law in Utah
My friend's ex-wife recently accused me of having 'a thing' with their 10-year old son and hinted that she was going to publicize that it was something inappropriate. It most definitely is NOT! She physically and mentally abuses the kids and they've become comfortable enough with me to start spilling the beans on what's going on. They are still settling some custody issues and will be back in court soon. I am worried that if she makes these bogus accusations part of the public record it will put a wrench in my plans to adopt a child/sibling group in the next couple of years. What advice do you have for me?

If you are aware children are being abused, you actually have a legal duty to report it to the authorities, including DCFS.
