Legal Question in Family Law in Utah
Learning about recent birth
Is it possible to have rights to information on a child that you are being sued to support? The mother has not even told me that the baby was born but via the internet it is now almost two months old. Do I have a right to find out the name, weight, statis, of my possible child and how can I do so without going through the mother? She is not cooperative.

If you are a father of a child, you are obligated to support the child, and you may also sue in court for visitation rights. If you fail to timely pursue your visitation rights you may be denied visitation but may still have to pay support.
Casual sex has a price and it is called parenthood. If you have any influence with the mother, encourage her to give the child up for adoption. Not to avoid child support payments, but because the child deserves a two parent home with mature committed parents, not a part time father and an single mother. Your child, if not adopted out, is destined to be raised by day care people who work for near minimum wage and do not have the best interests of your baby at heart. To them it is only a job, and they may not be around next week. A full time mother is always around.
If the mother keeps the child, you are morally obligated to provide the best fatherly example you can. This includes a lot more than paying child support and every other weekend visitation. You must become invested - which is more than involved - in the life of the child. You should devote every available moment of time into the child, except when you are working. That is the role of a father.....
