Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

My ex leaves are daughters at home when she has custody of them to go out with her boyfriend usually to a bar. She also refuses to tell me when our children miss school, go to doctors and when school activities are is there anything I can do about this?

Yes, however it depends on the divorce or custody decree. You should have the right to care for the children when she is not there with them, You also should be fully advised of all school and health issues. School you should be able to get by contacting their school yourself. She needs to share health care.

You may call for a free consultation.

I would need more information about what is contained in your Decree of Divorce before I can provide you with an answer. In many cases, the parents are given a right of first refusal to care for the children whenever the other parent goes out or is unavailable to care for the children for a specified period of time. Depending on the ages of your children, you may be in a posititon where you can call the police to request a welfare check if they're being left home alone late at night without adult supervision. However, without knowing more about what's in your decree, it's difficult to deternine whether you and your ex were given that right. You have the right to contact the children's school and ask for their attendance and other records, including their grades. Also, you can contact the school to get information about any activities or programs which involve your daughters.
