Legal Custody of child

I understand it means making legal decisions for religion, medical, education and also general well being of the child. What kind of control does the general well being part give to the parent with legal custody? What is determined as general well being?

There is no strict definition of "general well being" and wide discretion is allowed, subject to review by a court if the other parent objects.
