Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

I had a 2 year long custody battle that is, for the most part, wrapped up. I have recently had to file bankruptcy and, as a result, my attorney for that case has filed a notice stating that he was no longer my attorney. What rights do I have regarding getting information from him about my past case? I am wondering because, in the notice it said that there had been a request for a pre-trial from the other side. I have no idea what that would be for or how to find information about that. I also had given my attorney records and report cards and things like that that I would like back.

You are entitled to the contents of your file from your attorney.

Thank you for submitting your question. If your attorney withdrew from your case, you most certainly have the right to obtain from him your complete file. Since the notice you received indicates the opposing party has requested a pre-trial, then it appears your case is still pending and has not been concluded. The documents in your file from your attorney should have information about that pre-trial hearing. However, you may also want to go to the courthouse and get a copy of all documents in your case from the court's file. If you need any help, please contact me. Thank you.
