Unless there is something specific in your divorce decree, you pay alimony for the term of the marriage or until your ex remarries or cohabitates with another man. If there is nothing in your decree you may want to see if the court will consider an early termination.

If your divorce decree was entered in 1995, you are probably required to pay alimony indefinitely or until your ex wife remarries or cohabitates with another man. In 2000, the legislature enacted a statute which limits alimony to the term of the marriage, but that wouldn't apply to your case. Depending on your situation, you may want to consider petitioning the court to modify your decree seeking a reduction or termination. Also, without knowing more about your situation, you may also be able to terminate your alimony if you are retiring.
