Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

move child support to CA from UT

I need to have the child support changed from UT to CA. Our children have never lived in UT but the divorce was settled there due to poor judgement from my CA attorney and lack of filing my paperwork on time.

Re: move child support to CA from UT

If the other parent still lives in Utah, then it probably cannot be done. If he lives in California, it probably can be done, but you will need to register the Utah order here then you can enforce or modify it. If he lives in a state other than California or Utah, then you will need to talk to a Family Law attorney to determine if California has the legal "minimum contacts" with Father to give them jurisdiction to make a child support order.
