Legal Question in Family Law in Utah
I need to move, what options do I have?
I have been divorced for almost 4 years, and am currently remarried. My husbands company is thinking about relocating him to Az. I am wondering what the laws are her in Utah pertaining to the transportation of the children for my ex husbands parent time. He isn't current on child support and has never been. Will the courts make me pay for the transportation? One of the main reasons that we might take this job is because it pays more, and without my ex helping on a continous basis we need to take this job. Can he stop me for moving? There isn't anything in our decree that states that I can't move.

Re: I need to move, what options do I have?
You need to give the ex written notice as soon as you know. You should be responsible for transportation costs, but since he is delinquent, you will not have to pay him anything until the child support is worked off. He cannot stop you from moving. You may want to ask him about a step parent adoption, which would stop his child support. You could still allow him to see the children, but he would have no more legal rights or obligations.
