Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Moving more then 50 miles away from my ex..

My Ex-husband wants us to draw up papers saying that we cannot move more then 50 (give or take) miles away from each other, unless we want to give up our custodial rights. So if I move away, he gets full custody, and vice versa. Right now we have joint custody. 50/50. We switch every other week. Is this common? What is normal prosedures for this? What are my rights? Is this something that I should agree to?

You and your husband are getting a divorce. You should have legal representation. If you cannot afford an attorney contact Utah Legal Services. The provision is silly and controlling - probably why you are getting a divorce. You should not agree to this provision. I suspect he is also going to keep your house as well. Your rights include 50% of all of the equity in all of the property acquired during the marriage, whether in your name or his; you are entitled to alimony for the same number of years as you were married, unless your true incomes are similar. You are entitled to 50% of his retirement programs (and he yours) and there are other rights. See and attorney please.
