Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

naming a person

I'm wondering if there's a law that limits the time you have to name a child. Do you have to name him before you leave the hospital? Do you HAVE to name him at all?

Re: naming a person

Technically you do not have to name the child, but until the child is given a name, the child will not be given a birth certificate. If you do not name the child, then the child will probably be named by the clerk in the hospital that makes out the birth certificate. Thus your child might be named "Boy Johnson" for example. Clever question, but name your child something you think the child might enjoy.
