Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Neighbor kids hurassing my kids.

A few months ago two new families moved in across the way.One family has four or five kids ranging from 13 down to 4.The other family has at least 2-4 kids on any given day.I have a seven year old. Then one day they get in a fight.Well the neighbor kids parents threw a fit. Then just recently they have gotten into another fight. The neighbor parents called the cops. Then today my son is playing with another one of his friends, and the bad nieghbor kids start to pull my sons shirt and gets ready to hit him.Well my son hits her first.Next thing I know the cops are at my door. They said that since this was the second time they called the cops that social services would be coming over to my house.I need advice. What are my legal rights against the neighbors and against social services? We have had no problems in the past six years living here untill they moved in and thier kids starting hurassing my son. What can I do?I would also like to know what type of law this follows under.

Re: Neighbor kids hurassing my kids.

Any action against your son would be brought in juvenile court. It appears that the problems which you are having are no so much legal as social in nature. I suggest that you cooperate with the social services caseworker, and encourage a meeting with all of the neighbors which would be mediated by the social worker. For some reason the children are in conflict. There may be any number of reasons for the conflict, and the responsibility for the conflict may lie with any number of the children, including your son. A good meeting amongst the parents could resolve these problems before they create a serious neighborhood conflict. Each parent should realize that in most conflicts of this nature there is usually a little fault in all parties.
