Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

How to obtain credit on taxes for closing costs I paid Ex benefiting from

During our separation, ex and I agreed he would refinance the home and pay me my share of the equity. He deducted half of the closing closts from my share of the equity. About 3000.00. How do I benefit from that on my taxes? he will claim the write off but can't I have him pay me the difference the 3000 dollars benefits him on his taxes? He would calculate using the full 6000 and then his half of 3000 and pay me the difference it makes? How would I fight for this?

What was the agreement regarding the closing costs? Did you have a written agreement? Are you going to file jointly or separately?
