Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Parental rights

I left my husband over a year ago. Since then, he has not visited our children He has not even called or written to ask about them. How do I go about relinquishing his parental rights?

Re: Parental rights

Under Utah law your exhusband has abandoned his children and can have his paternal rights terminated. However, you have to make every reasonable attempt to notify him of the termination. I assume he has not paid any support either. You can file a joint motion asking for judgment on unpaid child support, or an order for child support or in the alternative that his rights be terminated.

You may call me for a free consultation if you like.
