Legal Question in Family Law in Utah
My parents were divorced 30 years ago. During the marriage my dad borrowed 10,000 from my grandma. In the divorce decree it said my father would mandatory keep a 10,000 insurance policy on himself payable to my grandma and if she should die the policy would go to my mom. Now my dad has died. How does my mom go about collecting on the policy. What will happen if there is no policy at all? Whom should she contact, his new wife won't talk to her. Thanks

Probate will need to be opened on your Dad. Whomever is appointed personal representative will be obligated to account for the insurance policy and the proceeds.
