Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

My partner had been separated from his wife for over 10 years now. He would like to file for a divorce. How would he go about this? There are two children involved. 15 & 17 both living with us now. Would he need to hire an attorney or is this something he could do himself. There's nothing they owned together.
