Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Private school

I'm a divorced single parent w/visitation, no custody. My 13yr old daughter is very smart but struggles in school. She does well when she is with me but I see her not thriving at Mom's house. Her Mom blames the public schools & is demanding private school. I want a chance to be more involved before we pay for private school, her Mom refuses. Can I be forced to pay private school tuition?

Re: Private school

You have a number of options. First see if mother will agree to get the child into counseling, and/or may want to get counseling for mother and yourself with the child. A good counselor may be able to pinpoint the problem. You are not liable for private school tuition unless ordered by a court.
