Legal Question in Family Law in Utah
My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: Utah
Utah. My divorce is turning into a nightmare. I'm trying to get away from an abusive husband and now the Guardian at Litem is after me! :( I have been trying to work through my divorce by myself, and tried to file a Protective Order against my husband. Because abuse was alleged against my husband, the State appointed a Guardian At Litem for my kids. He has filed a Motion for Entry of Temporary Orders, and another file called Additional Temporary Orders. The Guardian At Litem found that I home school my children and decided that they need to be in public school, based on allegations made by my husband. Based on a five year old case where I was nearly insane with stress, he has also decided that my whole family needs to be in therapy, and that my husband, who lost custody, needs to be able to visit the children more and call them at my home. I feel like I'm getting pulled back into a nightmare. I have filed for my tax refund, and as soon as it gets here in about two weeks, I am going to hire an attorney. Unfortunately the documents say I only have five days to object to the motion. I have informed the Guardian at Litem twice that I am going to seek legal counsel, so I think he filed these orders quickly in order to take control of the case. How can I answer additional temporary orders and Motion for Entry of Temporary Orders and keep this man from taking control of my family before I have a chance to legally defend myself? I only need about two to three weeks to get an attorney. Please help.:)

You need to answer the temp orders at least 5 business days before the hearing. Our office offers a free consultation. Call (801) 475-0123 to set it up. I look forward to meeting with you.
