Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Remarriage

If my ex gets remarried, am i still obligated to pay our original agreement. I now send her money every month, but she doesn't send me anything as our agreement. With her getting remarried, does this nullify our original agreement?

Re: Remarriage

If you are paying her alimony, your obligation to pay her ends with her remarriage or cohabitation with another man. Your child support continues unaffected. If she owes you money, you can get an offset from what you owe her. Ie., if she owes you $4000, then you have a $4000 credit against what you owe her. However, if ORS is collecting child support you will have to clear the offset with them first. You always have the right to return to court to get her cited for contempt for failure to pay you what she owes.
