Legal Question in Family Law in Utah
I want to know if it is possible to re-open a divorce decree. I was divorced by my husband 5 years ago while extremely mentally ill. I am still very ill but have realized my divorce was pushed upon me when I was in no condition to make serious life altering decisions. I was married happily for 11 years and worked hard to help my spouse get thru graduate school and a master's degree. He divorced me taking the home the children and left me destitute, very ill, and vulnerable to people that took advantage of my illness incapacitating me. He has thrived while I have spiraled down to now facing homelessness. I question if it is possible to prove I was/am unable to sign his divorce papers because I just didn't know what I was doing! I feel like he broke his vow to love me in sickness and in health and just took advantage of my illness to get rid of me and not have to help me at all. I supported him in school and thought he would return the favor in our lifetime together but he just used me up and threw me away. It's not right what he has done. I want to fix it if at all possible.

If you have a medical opinion or some other third party compelling evidence that you were not competent at the time of the divorce you may be able to get the divorce terms adjusted. Be aware that this could be expensive.
