Legal Question in Family Law in Utah
my rights as a father who pays child support
i have a son with a women who lives in utah, my son is almost two and i have paid child support since he was born. recently i started paying for his day care which she told me we had to split a month. i have been paying 60 dollars a week and i dont make that much money not including the base child support. she also tells me i have to pay have the medical bills, my son is covered under my medical insurance as i am in the military. do i have the choice of which day care she takes him too, can i request she pay half of what i pay for his medical insurance. being in the military i had to give her all custody before i joined because i will be out to see for some time. now that i am in longer i will be able to be in a stable position, can i try to get joint custody again.

Re: my rights as a father who pays child support
What you pay depends on the court order, which should detail the amounts which you have to pay. Generally, a court order will include the child support amount, plus each paying 1/2 of the cost of health insurance, and then each paying 1/2 of the non-covered health expenses and 1/2 of child care for work or education related care. You can seek joint custody any time you want.
