Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Rights on an un-wanted pregnancy

What rights do I have if a bar waitress knowingly and purposely ''got me drunk'' and coaxed me into having sex with her, which led to her becoming pregnant? After talking with my friends she discovered that I have a history of blackouts, that at which point, I don't know what I am doing, and don't remember what I do. It was made perfectly clear to her that I was not interested in her by myself as well as my friends.

She won't have an abortion. She has told me she wants to keep it to have a part of me, and that she has strong feelings for me. I have in NO WAY led her on in any manner. I am going to a Dr. with her to be sure of the pregnancy and to be sure I am actually a part of this.

Re: Rights on an un-wanted pregnancy

You are stating that the waitress forced you to consume drinks until you were incompetent to decide whether or not to have sex with her; or in other words she used the alcohol to render you unable to resist while she raped you.

The other view is that you willingly consumed the drinks, and willingly engaged in sex. Contratulations dad.

Since it is clear you are not ready to become a committed, caring andloving father, and she is apparently in no better condition than you --- try to convince her to give the child up for adoption so that it does not need to suffer from the problems which you will have in your relationship - or rather a lack of relationship. The child is an innocent victim and deserves the opportunity to be raised by a two parent, committed, and loving family.

PS. Give up drinking and find your girlfriends in a more quality location where it is easier to avoid irresponsible people.
