Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

I wasn't ever served papers or mailed a certified letter but I guess I missed a court date regarding my child support. I had no idea but when my wife went to pick up my kids yesterday from my ex the police surrounded the vehicle thinking it was me. They said there is a bench warrant for me. I'm self employed and in the middle of a big job. They want money but I would loose thousands I could pay toward child support if I'm jailed. How can I avoid being put into jail?

Making a deal with the court to withdraw the bench warrant. This would best be done through your attorney. Often if you pay some of your unpaid child support - a significant amount - the other attorney and the court will cooperate with withdrawing the bench warrant.
