Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

im a single mom. me & the father of my baby havent been together since i found out i was pregnant. shes now 5 months & he hasnt made an effort to be a part of my daughters life so he basically has abandoned her. does he have to be absent for a certain amount of time before i can eventually be granted full custody or can i have that granted to me now? & if so, how do i go about that?

You can apply to the court for sole legal and physical custody - but only need to do this if you named him as the father.
