Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Single mother need to know what rights i have. and the father has

I am a single mom. I am wondering what kind of rights does the father have? How easy would it be for me to get soul custody and if I got soul custody how often would the father get to see my son? I'm not sure how much he pays in child support he just gives me money when he has some extra. But it is not a set amount or anything. Can anyone please help me understand the laws of this situation!! Thanks...

If he was named the father of the child on the birth certificate; or if he filed a petition to determine paternity and was adjudicated the father of the child, then he is entitled to at least standard visitation (alternate weekends and holidays and summer time, dependent on the age of the child). He is also required to pay child support, however, you need to file a petition with the court where you live to get that amount set in a court order, which can then be enforced by the Office of Recovery Services (ORS). You can ask for sole custody at the same time you request child support.
