Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

My son is at his fathers house 300 miles away, we have a court ordered time that he has to be back in my possesion when he is there. My ex husband is telling me that he wont drop my son off until later then the court ordered time which will hinder my sons ability to go to school the following day,and will also put us in danger because we will have to drive late at night. What can i do this is not the first time this has happened and wont be the last if i dont do anything.

Thanks

If your court order is sufficiently detailed and requires the return at a certain hour, and the child is not returned at that time, you may be able to get a local police department to enforce it under a custodial interference action - which is can be a criminal violation. Otherwise, you will have to file for an order of contempt in civil court.
