In the state of Utah if a father gives up his parental rights, does he still have to pay child support? Or does the child need to be adopted by somebody else in order to give up the parental rights?

If he gives up his parental rights, then his has no legal relationship to that child anymore and would not have to pay child support. However, if someone is trying to give up their parental rights, they have to a hearing before a judge and a judge will make a determination that there are other reasons to terminate the relationship and that the father is not just trying to avoid paying child support.
