Statute of Limitations

Common law mariage in Utah for 23 years. Left 12 years ago with nothing. Any statute of limitations on suing for retirement income for future.

A court action is required to prove a common law marriage. After 12 years it may be very difficult to prove your case. The defendant can claim you waited too long to file your claim, and would probably win. It would be expensive to try to prove, and doubtful that you would prevail.
