my stepdaughter abandoned her 4 children 2 have been abopted by the fathers parents the oldest were taken to california they are with family i am the grandmother but i am gay my partner is the maternal grandmother, she is currently in jail. do i have any rights to to these children? i am only able to see one of the children. it will be 1 year in july since they were token out of state.

If DCFS is involved in the custody of the children, you can apply with them for custody. If you are seeking to adopt the children directly - a private adoption - you can make an application in court. The decision on custody is made as "in the best interests of the child."
