Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

"Subject": alimony

My ex-husband has not been making his alimony payments, which include his half of the martial debt. 1. Is there a way I can file order to show cause papers myself? 2. If I can file myself, where would I get the paperwork? 3. What would the order to show cause entail?

Re:

You could file a Motion for Contempt which would include the facts of your case such as the date of the Final Judgment for Dissolution of Marriage or Mediated Agreement and attach a copy of same to motion. Calculate the amount of alimony due and include that in your contempt motion as well as the other debts or circumstances of your case. This could get very complicated and you should retain an attorney if possible. If you can not afford an attorney call your local bar and or legal aid. If you decide to proceed with your case check with your local County Courthouse and ask if they have a self help department. GOOD LUCK
