Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Utah Divorce

I am a mother of 2 minor children that reside in the state of Utah. I am in the process of Divorce and I currently reside in another state due to job relocation. My husband is requesting SOLE custody. I am not clear on the types of custody and what the differences are. Please help me understand the differences and the pro's & Con's of each.

Re: Utah Divorce

There are 2 types of custody (1) Legal custody and (2) residential/visitation custody. Sole legal custody gives all rights to make decisions regarding the raising of the child to the custodial parent. Residential/visitation custody is about how much time the noncustodial parent gets for visitation rights. Base visitation is every other weekend, every other holiday, one night per week, 4-6 weeks in the summer.
