Legal Question in Family Law in Utah
Wife took my belongings
My wife started seeing another man, so I asked for a divorce. She agreed. I asked that I keep all the belongings I had before we got married (no prenuptial), and she also agreed to that.
She moved out of our apartment (in UT). I wasn't able to support myself, I didn't make enough at my job to pay all the bills. So I decided I was going to move back to NC, where my family lives. I didn't have the money to have all my belongings shipped, so I was having a friend take them to his house, for safekeeping until I could have them shipped.
But he informs me that when he goes to the apartment, everything is gone. (expensive electronics, like computers, televisions, washer and dryer...) She emails me and says that she has had her boyfriend come into the apartment and take everything, and intends to sell what she can, to pay for our shared debt, and will throw away the rest.
I know this can't be okay. She has basically robbed me... Please let me know what I can do. What are my rights? Should I call the police?

Re: Wife took my belongings
You can call the police if the boyfriend took your property. He had no right to it. Neither did your ex have the right to the property, if it was premarital. You need to haul her and boyfriend into court and take aggressive action to protect your property rights.
