Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

my ex wife's husband wants to adopt my kids. I have 2 questions.

First: If I pay court ordered child support and am in arrears, can she agree to either lower or remove the arrearages entirely?

Second: Is there any way their attorney could be pulling a fast one on me? If I sign the Consent to Adoption and Waiver of Notice is their any way they can still get current child support from me? I can't afford an attorney and I just want to make sure that if I sign this I won't be paying any current child support and only arrearages if she doens't agree to lower the arrearages.

They live in Utah and I live in Kansas. Thank you.

In response to your questions, yes, she can waive any child support arrearages or agree to reduce the amount owing. As far as her attorney pulling a fast one is concerned, I highly doubt anything like that would be happening. If the adoption goes through, you would be relieved of any further obligation to pay child support by law.
