Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Name changes

Hello, I will be moving to another state to attend college, where I will pay nonresident tuition. I might be changing my name during that time. Will I have to go back to my home state to get that done?

Thank you.

Re: Name changes

Your name change should take place where you have legal residency. Even though you have out of state tuition charges the new state may allow a name change there. Typically residency requires 3 months in the county of the state, plus an intent to live there. Check with an attorney for that state.
