Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

My X and I were divorced in Nevada and we both recently moved to Utah. How do I get our decree filed with the Utah court? Also, will they do a child support review and review visitation at the same time or do I need to get an attorney and a court date? Thank you for your response.

It's generally advisible to get an attorney. You will need to file a petition to move the case to Utah and then a petition to modify the decree to address those issues you want to change.

Generally divorce actions remain in the issuing court. You can apply for the decree to be lodged in a Utah court. Under the Uniform Child Custody and Jurisdiction Act you can apply for the custody portion of your divorce to be transferred to a court where the children have lived for the past six months or more.
