Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Utah

forceable resignation

alligations were made against me for cunduct unbecoming an officer, they think I lied to them, but in the end report they dont think that i did this intensionally because I was taking care of my wife, I was punished for not attending a police training, which I was already excused by the chief of police, and I also made the training up. He told me I was no longer trust worth, or could make decisions, even though I had been there for 14 1/2 years and have never been in trouble before, the chief then told me that if I resigned I was still marketable as a police officer, if I stayed and he recieved one complaint, no matter what it was I would be fired right there, and then I was no longer marketable as a police officer, my punishment was extremely harsh, so i felt I had no other option but to resign because he did put me under direct supervision of the officer that made the false alligations, and that I wouldnt last a week, I was also advised that I needed to be careful with how I proceded with this, because if i caused a problem the chief would black ball me from law enforcement, i have also been told that another police officer who had definatly been caught lieing on a report, his punishment was not even as harsh as mine.
