Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Utah

I rented a room in my home there is no signed lease or anything proving the people live here other than their stuff being here. They do not want to pay rent and our threatening to get the police involved if I move their stuff out of the house and lock the doors. My question is would the police be able to do anything if technically they are only guests in my home? Can I move their stuff out of the house and change the licks without going to jail?

Since you rented a room you need to follow the law in evicting them. It begins with serving them with a 3 day notice to pay or quit - meaning they have 3 days to pay or move. More information is on the Utah Courts' Website.
