I want to know what my chances are in civil court of getting my engagement ring back. My x-fiance took it from me while I was sleeping. The ring is paid off. He is the one who called off the marriage. He gave the ring to me. Do I have any recourse to the get the ring back?

Your fiance gave you the engagement ring in exchange for your promise to marry him. You decided not to marry him, and he is entitled to the ring back. If you marry him and later divorce you may keep the ring because you kept your promise to marry him.
