Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Utah
Towing
I had a car parked in Walmart's parking lot with a for sale sign. There were no signs prohibiting this yet one of the store managers had the car towed. No attempts were made to contact me. The towing company charged for towing and for the days it was stored. I was never informed it was towed. I found out 6 days later when I went to check on the car. I had to pay cash to get it back or pay additional storage. Now I cannot get the car into reverse, it appears that there must be damage to the transmission. I feel that this manager and the towing company are in together to tow and store cars for higher than normal rates. What if anything, can I do?

Re: Towing
First check to see if there is a local ordinance prohibiting the parking of cars for sale overnight or similar ordinance. Second sue Walmart. Third sue the tow company for the damage to the car and excessive fees. You will have to prove the fees are unreasonable.
