Why must I pay a fee for a ''Certificate Of Ins.'' from the workers comp. if I am self employed and there document states (No Coverage)

State law requires each employer with one or more employees to have workers compensation insurance, including subcontractors. If you have more than one employee you must obtain WC insurance or risk a fine of at least $1000 or more. WC insurance is designed to protect employers from lawsuits and claims from employees. Under the law any employer who has WC insurance is shielded from any injury claims. The employees only remedy is the insurance claim. The WC is worth the cost.
