Legal Question in Insurance Law in Utah
we have a medical bill of over 8,500.00 that the insurance says is a right off for the hospital, after over a year back and forth between the hospital and now recovery department, we were told to just get an explaination of benifits and what we were responsible for, which we did. They took this and said everything was now fine. Now three months latter they came back and said they decided to reject it and want the full amount from us not just our co-pay of $200.00. Question is what are our rights? What do we do now?
1 Answer from Attorneys
You were obligated for the debt at the time services were rendered. If you got something in writing you may be protected. If nothing in writing then you will have to battle with the hospital. You only have rights if there was something in writing.
