Legal Question in Insurance Law in Utah
Unlincensed Driver
My minor unlicensed, (does not even have his permit) son was given permission to drive his friends car with his friend in it. There was an accident with no injuries but damage to the vehicle. Are we required to pay 100% of the damage? (We do feel like it is a shared responsibility)

Re: Unlincensed Driver
The party giving permission is legally liable for the damage. However, your son should morally not escape responsibility. Make a deal with the injured party, and make sure your son pays ALL of the damages, regardless of who initially pays the debt. Make sure he gets a job and actually earns the money. There is a greater lesson to be taught here than what the law would teach.
