Legal Question in Employment Law in Utah

Anticompetition clause in utah

My Brother is now working for a blasting company in utah, he wants to go and work for his brother and be part owner in another blasting company but he signed an anticompetition clause for the company he currently works for, in the clause it states he cannot work for another company in the same business for two years starting when he quits or gets fired from his current job, how likely is it for this clause to stand up in court?

and if it does stand what are the penalties, his boss now will definately try to take legal action no question about it.
