Legal Question in Employment Law in Utah

The current bank that I am working for has put me on Job performance review with the intent of termination. Each item they have listed, as needs improvement is ambiguous at best. This process was not part of the regular review. During my last review I scored meets expectations.

Are they trying to trying to discharge me without paying unemployment? What will they tell future potential employers? Why are they doing this rather than a regular lay- off? What are my rights?
