Legal Question in Employment Law in Utah

employee rights

I have worked for the same employer for 30 years. The last 15 years as an auto body shop foreman. After the owner died he left the business to his sons. At the time they were about 21 and 23 years old. I taught and trained them in the business. Now they are stripping me of my responsibilities, authority and money. They have taken about most of my all call duties of running the wrecker after hours resulting in a $500. to $1000. a month cut in pay. They just informed me that I wouldn't be getting my 3% share of gross profits in the business this year. This was set up before there dad died. I never got a bonus either. They have stripped me of my dignity, money, and pride. This is not only very degrading to me but a lose of a lot of income for me. Do I have any legal rights?

Re: employee rights

Generally unless you have a contract with your employer, it is very hard to prove that you are more than an "at will" employee - without any rights. However, with your history, you might be able to prove that you have an entitlement to some of the benefits. Your case must be reviewed by an attorney to ascertain all of the facts and whether you have a claim or not.
