Legal Question in Employment Law in Utah

Can my employer fire me for signing a referendum petition?

A fellow employee at my company,

an at-will employer in Utah, has

been told that she is not to sign a

referendum petition. Can she be

legally terminated if she signs it?

Curve ball: She is a journalist at a

newspaper.

Putting aside the question of

whether or not she ethically SHOULD

be involved in this democratic

process, does my employer have the

legal authority to tell her NOT to?
