Legal Question in Employment Law in Utah

I have finally quit my job from a verbally abusive employer after 7 1/2 years. He isn't happy with my decision and has threatened litigation if I speak to anyone in the company or network. Can he do that? I have friends there. I have never signed a non-compete agreement, only an at-will agreement. That's now ineffective.

Also, is it true that he cannot defame me to any potential new employers?

I would really appreciate your help. I'm hurt as his reaction after so many years of service but not entirely surprised.

Thank you!

A bully can always threatened. The real issue is whether he can do more than threaten. If there is no agreements, then you still have all of your rights. However, those rights do not include defamation or interference with the business.
