Legal Question in Employment Law in Utah

Fired for having an affair with my boss

For the past 4 months I have been having a relationship with my boss who is married (I am single)When his wife found out about our relationship, she called me at 3:00am to tell me that I was fired and she instructed me not to show up to work the next day or I would be sorry. My boss is in a partnership and I worked for both of them. Neither of my employers officially fired me--I have received nothing in either verbal nor written form that I have been terminated. Yet, I have been forbidden to return to my job (by the wife of my boss) and she has also changed the locks to the office. My boss is trying to repair his marriage and fears that his wife will divorce him, so he has agreed to me being terminated. I was the Head Nurse in my office and my boss claims that the reason for my termination is because of our relationship. His wife and children have harrassed me, even to the point of impersonating me to have my cell phone turned off. What recourse do I have against my boss or his wife?

Re: Fired for having an affair with my boss

You have got to be kidding. What makes you think that you are entitled to any recourse. You knowingly involved yourself in a marriage, becoming liable for a suit against YOU for alienation of affection. You help your philandering boss destroy his family - and you want recourse. My advice to you is to leave the area and start a new life in a distant city. Forget this loser and get your life in order. Next time start a relationship with a honorable single man and act honorably yourself. Even if the boss left his wife for you, what makes you think he would not start another affair behind your back?

You should be glad that the wife does not sue you. If you start a legal battle, you will sure to be the counter-defendant for far more serious charges. Use your head to make these decisions. Admit that you were in the wrong and get out and start a new life.
