Legal Question in Employment Law in Utah

My husband worked for a company as a maintenance tech for a little over 5 years. When he arrived at work this morning 9:00am he was call in the office and fired. At 1:30pm the apartment manager and maintenance supervisor came to our apartment and served us with a five day eviction (at will tenancy). When they fired him they issued two checks one for which is his regular two week check which he would have normally gotten on friday (less 2 hours) and the other was for his remaining sick time and vacation pay, nothing for the hours he worked on monday or tuesday. We have our rent with held automatically out of his pay check, which they with held out of both checks and double on the insurance. Is it leagal for them to with hold the rent then evict us?

Your need to know the reasons for eviction, and also the terms of your lease agreement. If you have paid your rent and if the only reason for the eviction is because he was fired you should be allowed to stay for the period allowed under the lease agreement. Talk to the manager to clarify their position and review the lease and paid rent term.
