Legal Question in Employment Law in Utah

independent contractor

I am an independent contractor for a major satellite industry. I install satellite systems for residential housing. No taxes taken out. As an independent contractor I am constantly being charged back, anywhere from 100 to 200 dollars per week on work that has been performed up to three weeks prior. It should be noted that the company that provides our work has full time employees of their own and does not charge back them for the same type of actions, Is this legal? And do I have any sort of remedy?

Re: independent contractor

You have to look at your contract with the employer. As an independent contract you do not have the same rights as an employee.

I'm sure that's not a satisfactory response for you, so you should talk to the company to resolve the discrepancy
