Legal Question in Employment Law in Utah

Legal Deductable Percentage

My daughter lives in Clearfield Utah and her employer took out of her paycheck almost 75% in deductions leaving her not enough money to live on or pay for her housing and personal expenses. She pays child support, insurance costs and of course the regular tax deductions. They took double the amount of the insurance cost because she was out due to surgery for 4 months. Her gross pay was $798.00 and her net pay was $169.00 to live on for 2 weeks. This doesn't seem fair. What is the legal percentage amount that an employer can take out legally and is there anything she can do about this problem?

Re: Legal Deductable Percentage

An employer can deduct all amounts allowed for taxes, health insurance, child support and other authorized deductions. An employer is not required to leave any amount in the actual paycheck.
